Q&A

TRAINING: I have numerous training sessions each day at a few different gyms... from MMA striking, boxing and Muay Thai, along with wrestling over at TTD and Jiu-Jitsu sessions. I have added some mental training for this camp as well. It has really helped me learn more about myself both inside and outside of the cage. I am in a good place heading into this fight and feel confident. It feels good to put all these pieces of the puzzle together for well-rounded training.
When and why did you start training for fighting?  I started in 2007 because wrestling season ended and it was the next logical step.
What ranks and titles have you held? Three-time All-State HS wrestling champion in TX.
Do you have any heroes?
Boxer Julio Cesar Chavez, wrestling legend Dan Gable, Allen Watts
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? This is the beginning of a long term plan. A mini goal has been to reach UFC level, which has the best fighters, but the next and bigger goal is to reach the top of my weight division.  I am very excited for this opportunity and the ability to showcase my skills on an international stage.  Zuffa is an incredible organization and it will be great to get my first taste of being an employee for them.  I will make the most of this opportunity.
Favorite grappling technique:
Rear naked choke
Favorite Striking technique: Right hand
